What is Phunya Tsela?
"Phunya Tsela" — a Setswana expression meaning "open the way" — captures the spirit of this community-rooted career expo. We bridge the gap between Grade 9–12 learners, post-matric youth, and the industries shaping South Africa's future.
Phunya Tsela is a flagship initiative of the Kasi Career Expo—a decade-strong platform dedicated to empowering young people beyond a single event. It is not a once-off activation, but a sustained, year-round programme delivering meaningful impact across the John Taolo Gaetsewe District.
From career guidance and bursary application support to teacher development, and the Youth Pulse community voice programme, Phunya Tsela is designed to build capacity, unlock opportunities, and strengthen the education ecosystem at a grassroots level.
